QAagency is delighted to be working with an established transport and logistics business to recruit a Risk, Compliance & Internal Audit Manager.
This is a newly created role responsible for developing and managing the company’s internal compliance, assurance and risk framework. The successful candidate will initially work closely with external consultants supporting the business through ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditation, before taking ownership of the ongoing management systems and internal audit programme.
The role will then broaden into wider compliance and assurance areas including enterprise risk management, modern slavery and human rights compliance, environmental obligations, business continuity, policy development and other regulatory requirements.
The position is suited to someone with broad auditing, compliance or assurance experience who is comfortable working independently, challenging subject matter experts and using evidence and data to demonstrate whether the business is compliant.
Duties will include:
- Working alongside external consultants to support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditation and then taking ownership of the management systems
- Developing and managing the internal audit and assurance programme, including monitoring controls, identifying gaps and ensuring corrective actions are completed
- Supporting and developing wider compliance areas including enterprise risk management, modern slavery, human rights, environmental compliance and business continuity
- Producing policies, reporting findings and working with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts across the business
Key requirements:
- Previous experience within internal audit, compliance, assurance or risk management
- Practical experience working with ISO management systems, ideally ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001
- Experience auditing operational, regulated or safety-conscious environments
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess evidence, challenge controls and determine whether requirements are being met
Previous rail experience is not required. Experience within transport, logistics, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, utilities or another regulated environment would be useful.
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000
Location: Birmingham
Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the office or visiting operational sites and 2 days working from home
The role will involve some travel to company locations across the UK, with mileage expenses provided.
