QAagency is delighted to be working with a well-established beverage manufacturer based in Harrogate to recruit a Quality Assurance Technician. This is a hands-on quality role supporting the site’s Food Safety and Quality Systems within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Technician will carry out quality assurance activities across the site, including microbiological testing, production line audits, hygiene inspections, equipment calibration and complaint investigations. The role includes regular work within the microbiology laboratory as well as a visible presence within the production environment.

The position works across a three-week rotating pattern of 32, 40 and 48 hours, averaging 40 hours per week. The rota includes weekend working, with the third week covering Saturday and Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out microbiological sampling and testing of plant-based samples and finished products, accurately recording and communicating results.
  • Conduct regular quality line audits, site hygiene inspections and equipment calibrations, ensuring food safety and quality standards are maintained.
  • Support investigations into complaints and quality issues, maintaining accurate records within the company Quality Management System.
  • Work closely with Production and the wider Quality team, supporting internal and external audits including FSSC 22000 and microbiology laboratory accreditation.

For this role you will ideally have the following experience

  • Previous experience within an FMCG environment with an understanding of quality testing processes.
  • Experience within Quality Assurance and/or a microbiology laboratory environment would be advantageous.
  • HACCP awareness with strong attention to detail, communication and organisational skills.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in natural or biological sciences, food microbiology, HACCP or Quality Assurance would be advantageous.

The salary for the role is £30,900, with 33 days’ holiday inclusive of Bank Holidays, a pension scheme with 5% employer contribution and 3% employee contribution. Life Assurance, Healthcare and a Short Term Incentive Plan are available following successful completion of the probationary period.

Due to the shift pattern and occasional visits to off-site boreholes, candidates should ideally live within approximately 30 minutes of Harrogate. Having a driving licence and access to your own transport would be advantageous.
