QAagency is working with a UKAS-accredited Certification Body, with head offices in Derby, to recruit an experienced HSEQ Lead Auditor. This is a senior auditing position suited to someone with a strong background in management systems, ISO certification, compliance or assurance. Experience within the Rail industry is particularly important.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the management and delivery of certification activities in line with UKAS requirements and relevant accreditation standards. The role will involve planning, conducting and leading management systems audits across client organisations, including certification, surveillance and recertification audits.
You will review audit findings, prepare reports and make certification recommendations while ensuring all certification activity is completed consistently, impartially and in accordance with documented procedures. The role will also involve maintaining accurate audit and certification records, supporting internal audits and management reviews and contributing to ongoing improvements within the certification process.
A key part of the position will be liaising directly with clients throughout the certification process, providing technical guidance on management systems and certification requirements and working closely with colleagues across certification, compliance and assurance functions. UK-wide travel to client sites will form part of the role.
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Certification Body, compliance, assurance or management systems environment and will hold a recognised Lead Auditor qualification. You should have strong practical experience conducting management systems audits and a good understanding of ISO certification processes, accreditation requirements and UKAS expectations.
Previous Rail industry experience is important, together with experience auditing against ISO 9001 or other relevant management system standards. You should also be confident preparing audit reports, reviewing corrective actions, managing competing priorities and working independently with clients.
Strong communication and client-facing skills are essential, as is a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
Experience in any of the following would also be advantageous:
- Previous Certification Body management or supervisory experience
- Experience working within a UKAS-accredited Certification Body
- Knowledge of Rail-specific certification, assurance or compliance requirements
- Experience across additional standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or ISO 27001
